Bhadrachalam- A Pilgrim Town




Bhadrachalam is a well-known pilgrimage town in India,often called as "Dakshina Ayodhya" by devotees.It is situated on the banks of Godavari river in Andhrapradesh.The presiding deity is Lord Rama.The temple was constructed almost 370 years back by saint Ramadas. It is said to be that Sri Rama,Sita and Lakshmana roamed here during their "vanavasa".There is a small village named Parnasala which is 32 k.m.away from  here believed to be the place where Sita was abducted by Ravana.

Srirama navami or sitarama kalyanam will be celebrated every year in Mar or April.

The temple draws devotees from all corners of India.During Srirama navami (mar-apr) and vaikunta ekadasi (dec-jan) there is a huge influx of pilgrims,not only from the state but also from other parts of India.There are lots of choultries,cottages and private lodges to shelter in.

Boat Cruise on Godavari through papi hills.

An exciting  boat cruise is there on Godavari throught Papi hills when you are in Bhadrachalam.This is almost a 3 hour journey by boat to perantapally,a tiny village located in dense Dandakaranya forest .One must see this grand natural beauty of both papi hills and River Godavari.State Tourism department is running a special package for it.You can also get concerned resevation from Bhadrachalam.

Bhadrachalam is well connected by bus.Hyderabad is nearly 309 k.m.away from here.Nearest Railway station is Kothagudem (but called as Bhadrachalam road) which is 40 k.m. away.No problem..you will get the bus for every 5 or 10 minutes.
